This billionaire’s chocolate cake is a decadent delight that will satisfy your sweet tooth. The rich aroma of dark chocolate fills the air as you take the first bite, releasing a velvet smooth indulgence that melts in your mouth.

With its layered texture and intense flavors, this cake is why I recommend using high-quality chocolate when possible. While this recipe is specific to dark chocolate, I’d recommend taking a look at my other chocolate cake recipe that uses milk chocolate for a sweeter take.

Why This Recipe Works

  • Layering the cake with a ganache helps to strengthen the cake’s structure and ensures a clean break.
  • Using dark chocolate intensifies the flavors, making it perfect for those who enjoy strong chocolate notes.
  • The addition of coffee enhances the chocolate flavor while adding a subtle bitterness to balance out the sweetness of the cake.

Key Ingredients

The choice of high-quality chocolate is essential for this cake, as it makes up the majority of the recipe. When selecting chocolate, I recommend choosing a dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa solids content for the best results.

Make sure to choose a rich, high-quality heavy cream to add to the cake, as it helps to elevate the flavors. You can also substitute it with half-and-half or whole milk if needed.
