Key Ingredients

Here, we’ll discuss some of the standout ingredients in this recipe, like high-quality cheese and extra-virgin olive oil, that make all the difference in this well-rounded meal. For the tortellini, I recommend looking for a high-quality package from a trusted brand like Bertolli.

In order to get the best flavor from your steak, choose a top-notch cut of beef like a Wagyu or a Ribeye. For the olive oil, you can’t go wrong with a classic Italian extra-virgin from a brand like Filippo Berio. Fresh garlic and fresh herbs are essential parts of this dish. Simply make sure to peel and chop your garlic as close to cooking as possible to retain its flavor.

Ingredients

1 (12 oz) package cheese-filled tortellini

1 lb coarse steak, cut into 1-inch pieces

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup chicken broth

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp dried oregano

Directions

1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of oil and the tortellini. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

2
In a large skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high. Add the steak and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Transfer the steak to a plate, then add the garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.

3
Pour in the chicken broth and stir to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then stir in the dried basil and oregano. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 1 minute.

4
Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet and toss with the sauce until well combined. Season with salt to taste.

5
Serve the garlic steak with the tortellini and enjoy!

Storage & Reheating

Let the cooked tortellini and steak cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply reheat the tortellini in a microwave or on the stovetop, and serve alongside the chilled steak. You can also reheat the sauce in the microwave or on the stovetop if it’s stored in the fridge.
