2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set it aside for later.

In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream together the butter and sugars for about 2 minutes. It should become light, fluffy, and almost aerated, with some sugar crystallizing on the surface.

With the mixer running, carefully pour in the eggs one at a time, allowing each egg to fully incorporate before adding the next. After the second egg is fully incorporated, stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl.
