1 package of frozen puff pastry, thawed

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1 large egg, beaten

    1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Why This Recipe Works

  • The combination of just three ingredients – puff pastry, granulated sugar, and salt – results in a perfect balance of sweetness and savory flavors.
  • The simplicity of this recipe makes it perfect for beginners, while the result is still impressive and delicious.
  • The addition of a beaten egg and melted butter adds richness and moisture to the pastry, making it tender and flaky.

Key Ingredients

When it comes to choosing the right ingredients, quality matters. For the puff pastry, I recommend using a high-quality store-bought or homemade option. For the sugar, I prefer using granulated sugar for its fine texture and mild flavor. As for the salt, a pinch of flaky sea salt adds a nice crunch and flavor to the pastry.

When selecting the right brand of puff pastry, look for a product that has a high-quality ingredient list and a good balance of sugar and salt. Avoid using low-quality puff pastry, as it may not rise as well or have an unpleasant flavor.
