Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts

Balsamic glazed roasted Brussels sprouts on a platter

Halved Brussels sprouts roast until their cut sides brown, while balsamic vinegar and maple syrup make a glossy sweet-tart coating. Finish with a few red-pepper flakes if you like heat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 3 to 5 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • A few pinches red-pepper flakes
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts; rinse if needed and dry them thoroughly.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment and spread the sprouts in a single layer.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and maple syrup. Toss to coat, then season with salt, black pepper and red-pepper flakes.
  4. Roast about 10 minutes, stir and spread out again, then roast 10 to 15 minutes more until tender with browned edges. Serve hot.
