Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Additional sugar for rolling (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add flour and mix. The dough will be crumbly at first but will come together as you mix.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Place on baking sheet and flatten slightly with a fork.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until bottoms are lightly golden. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes.

Notes

If the dough is crumbly, keep kneading; the heat from your hands will bring it together. Do not add water.
