  2. What can I substitute for bananas? Reply The banana helps add creaminess and body to this recipe, so any substitute will change the texture a bit. If you need to replace it, I’d try using about 1 cup of frozen mango. It will keep the texture creamy and pair really nicely with the pineapple flavor. Frozen peaches could also work, though the final flavor will be a little different. I haven’t tested either substitution myself, so I can’t guarantee the results, but those would be my first choices. You may need to adjust the sweetness or lemon juice slightly to taste.

I really hate coconut, can I replace this?

  1. You could try using sweetened condensed milk. I am not sure how much you should use though so I would start with a little then add more to taste.

Pineapple Whip Recipe

Reminiscent of Disney’s famous Dole Whip, our Pineapple Whip is one you can make at home and enjoy any time of year.

  • Author: Maya Collins
  • Prep Time: 3 mins
  • Total Time: 3 mins
  • Yield: 6 people 1x
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Banana (peeled, sliced, and frozen)
  • 3 cups Frozen Pineapple Chunks (about 1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup Full-Fat Coconut Cream
  • 1/4 cup Sweetened Pineapple Juice
  • 2 – 3 teaspoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • honey (if you want sweeter)

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the banana 1 1/2 cups of pineapple, the coconut cream, pineapple juice, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, and the vanilla and process for about 5 minutes, until mostly smooth.
  2. Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups pineapple and continue to process for 2 to 3 minutes more, until the mixture is very smooth and creamy. If large chunks of pineapple persist, pulse either to ten times until they break up.
  3. Taste and add the remaining 1 teaspoon lemon juice as well as honey if you want it to be sweeter. Serve immediately.
